Larry Patton, Senior Pastor

After growing up near St. Louis, Missouri, Larry enrolled at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 1993. He earned his Master of Divinity degree and since 1993 has served as pastor of Methodist churches in North Georgia from Chattooga County, Floyd County, Carroll, Coweta, Forsyth, and back to Carrollton First in June 2015. Larry’s wife, Faith, a native of Colquitt County, GA, also holds a graduate degree in theology from Emory. They married in 1997 and have three children in Carrollton City Schools: Annabel, Micah, and Ellie.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Karen Kagiyama, Associate Pastor

Born in Japan, with family roots in Hawaii and Mississippi, Karen grew up in an Air Force family and lived in seven states. As a child she wanted to be an astronaut and a scientist, but God called her to ministry during college. She holds a B.A. in English from Emory University and an M.Div. from The Candler School of Theology at Emory. She has served churches in North Carolina and Georgia and was most recently the campus minister at The University of West Georgia Wesley Foundation. She is married to Dr. David Newton, a professor of English at UWG. They have two daughters, Kelcy, a senior at Georgia Tech, and Caroline, a sophomore at Carrollton High School. Karen loves to preach, teach, create contemporary liturgy, and sing in the choir. She is passionate about equipping the saints for the work of ministry!
 
 
 
 
 
 

 

Ken Stephens, Pastor of Visitation

He graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Urban Life, and is a graduate of Candler School of Theology holding a Master of Divinity degree.
Ken retired from the North Georgia Annual Conference in 2014 after serving churches for 42 years.
He and his wife Gail live in Douglasville, Ga. They have two children Casey & Justin, two grandsons, and one granddaughter.
